It includes environmental management systems and needs about sanitation and hygiene, water conservation, rain water harvesting, waste management, energy conservation and greenery.

Our Institute also has National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Project in collaboration with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Mumbai. Under this project 3 monitoring stations are installed in different regions of Latur city. Several collaborative environment activities are organized with local NGO's to protect institutes green campus. Main Objectives of Environmental / Green Audit of DSCL

The initial footstep of the Go Green Think Green programme involves establishing a rational Green-Campus Committee. Institute administration within the executive structure prepares plan of action and calendar of activities which will be implemented by all departments of college. Hence, to give this initiative more clarity, strength and authenticity, we now revolve out a POLICY DOCUMENT spelling out the campaign, approach and other strategy tasks to create this plan well-designed with authorization.

We think about greening the campus to protect environment to conserve natural resources is all about comprehensive away wasteful inefficiencies. The administration of the Institute believes that everything is connected to everyone so every individual should take care and use acceptable discarding materials, purchase of environment friendly supplies and efficient recycling program.

As unique green campus initiatives portfolio committees has been established for the Greenery, Water harvesting, Waste Management, Energy conservation, Sanitation and Hygiene etc. These strategies require to be integrated into the organizational development and budgeting processes with the aim of enhancing a clean and green campus. Every individual faculty, Supportive staff and students of Dayanand Science College will contribute for self-sustainability and make the entire campus ecofriendly.

Action Plan for Environmental Protection and Awareness

Management of our institute formed a policy for monitoring aspects of Greenery with dedicated staff and periodic reports-system. The proficient establishment of Dayanand Science College, Latur would make the action plan for the Eco-friendly, sustainable, suitable Green measure, toxic waste and pollution free campus as per the suggestions below:

Greenery Protection
Protection of greeneries and planting various plant species in the campus — monitored by the Department of Botany, Garden section, NCC and NSS unit In-charge officer.
Water Management
All water streams connections should be checked, replaced and monitored by the Plumber(s) monthly. Rain water from roofs is collected by PVC pipes and connected to the college common well.
Sewage Treatment Plant
Institute has installed 30,000 liter capacity STP (water recycling plant) and recycled water is used for the cricket ground and gardening purpose. Software operated sprinkle system is used for cricket stadium.
Energy Conservation
Less Electricity utilization by using energy LED lights, 5-star rating equipments and sensors implemented in buildings. Solar panels are installed on different roofs with capacities of 10kw, 15kw, 20kw and 30kw.
Fire Safety
Fire fighting system is installed for the whole campus as a safety measure.
Waste Disposal
Processing of recyclable, non-recyclable and e-waste material generated in the campus is suitably controlled and disposed off according to the plan specified by Government notifications.
Air Quality Monitoring
DSCL campus has air quality monitoring project in collaboration with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Mumbai. Parameters are checked periodically by the concern committee members.
Water Quality
Water quality of the campus supply is checked by members of the Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology with support of Greentex Environmental, Pune to carry on sustainable green practices.

"Save Energy Save Life and Go Green" Guidelines

Encouraged in and outside the Institute for all faculty, staff and students.

Electricity is cleaner but saving energy still helps the environment
Turn off fan/AC or monitor when you leave your classroom or lab
Stay up to date on maintenance to save energy and make an effort to clean or replace air filters in your laboratory
Keep lights and projectors off in conference rooms and lecture halls when not in use
Wait for a full load before operating instruments like autoclave to reduce energy use
Install a programmable thermostat to instruments to save cost and energy
Install a power strip that will turn off multiple items at one time
Ensure that each instrument in laboratories runs more efficiently while optimizing energy output
Switch off energy consuming instruments when not in use to conserve energy
Solar energy is a safer alternative and kinder to the environment
Choose aerators to your faucets for maximum energy savings
As world now is digitally focused we may take notes electronically to save paper wastage
Avoid the use of decorative lighting
Install energy-efficient LED bulbs or CFL
Use sensor based power station for tank to ensure water filling without wastage
